Youth Ambassador Program

The Blue Frontier Youth Ambassador Program is a national youth ocean advocacy program founded in 2022.

The Youth Ambassador program harnesses the power of the youth voice and is designed to train exceptional individuals ages 13-17 to be effective leaders and communicators for ocean-related topics on the local and national levels. It can help establish their life direction through college and beyond through individual mentorship. Our Youth Ambassadors travel with Blue Frontier every June to visit Capitol Hill, meet with elected representatives and advocate for the ocean while presenting thoughtful, solutions-oriented projects. Additionally, they attend the Capitol Hill Oceans Week Conference hosted by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.

Since 2022, the program has included Youth Ambassadors from across the nation and have met directly with California Senators Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla, Hawaiʻi Senator Brian Schatz, California Congressmen Jared Huffman and Sam Liccardo, and Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin, also various agency and congressional staff. Each Youth Ambassador selects, prepares for, and shares their knowledge on an individual project with members of Congress. Their issues to date have included plastic pollution, watershed protection and restoration, sea turtle conservation and environmental justice. Youth Ambassadors also organize a school or community project during this year long program.
